Hey boy and girls,

 

This is what I need to know

 

asus x99 ws usb 3.1 

Can I add that card to get thunderbolt ?

Pretty sure any thunderbolt expansion card will work, but for peace of mind here is a thunderbolt expansion card that specifically says its compatible with x99 and z170 motherboards.

NO, i bought one of these in the past and learnt the hard way that each thunderbolt card has special ports and cables that correspond with special ports in supported motherboards, this way an asus card wont work on an msi board
