I had a failed OC. My cpu is ryzen 5 3600 and motherboard is Gigabyte X470 Aorus ultra gaming. I set cpu to 4200mhz from bios and didnt change voltage. After restart I failed to see anything in monitor while everything seemed to be running. I did reset CMOS,removed battery few times , changed ram and etc. And nothing happened. I took my pc to see what is causing this , only they narrowed it to cpu or board, mainly being mb problem. Now assuming that it is mb problem I will take it to a service center. But . . . Gigabyte has dual bios and I had to update my bios to be able to use Ryzen 5 3600. And I was trying to get more information about how dual bios works. It says if main bios fails, backup bios will work in factory settings. Unfortunately i dont have any friend with previous gen of ryzen to test this. But is it possible that my back up bios doesn't work (assuming that I have damaged main bios as some repair shop acclaimed) simply because it is not updated to work with 3rd gen ryzen?

the backup bios is supposed to automatically kick in, i don't know of any way to force it on those boards. unless they are bad, the techs would have likely tried to force it to the backup bios if they could. it sounds like its cooked, and needs rma. it could be the cpu still though, this board has debug lights, no?

You mean led for indicating the problematic hardware? Yes. But it was on for gpu all the time.

I found this if it doesnt change automatically :

(Shut off your computer.

Hold the power button until your computer starts and shuts down again.

Press the power button again, your backup BIOS should kick in now and should re-flash the backup BIOS if there's anything wrong with the new one.)

But my main question is that back up bios will have the latest flash like main or it will be factory setting as it mentions in this article (https://www.gigabyte.com/microsite/55/tech_081226_dualbios.htm).

Which will be a reason to cause this black screen,if bios doesnt support cpu?

was the gpu checked? do you have another gpu to test with? the backup should be whatever version is the latest you've flashed to. try to access backup bios if you can. i've also heard to hold both power+rest. i would try both.

We put 3 different gpu and still nothing. Tried different ram, different power supply. Nothing.

About back up bios, only thing I found is that it will be bios in factory setting. So I m not sure it will be same as my updated main bios. Or by factory default it means what board originally had. I just try to get enough information before I can take it to check again or repair. Giving myself false hope maybe. Maybe even cpu is dead.

Well, I took my system to a few place to check. No friends where I live having amd motherboard or cpu. I could check different gpu, ram and power supply. But not the mb or cpu. Last place I could find(many places closed) didnt check another cpu or another board. So that was all I could do yesterday. I will try to do back up bios thing I mentioned above and during the week when free taking it to a service center to try a different cpu.

But still can no find any answer to my question anywhere about the way this back up bios works.

Dual bios usually has a button to switch to other bios. The other bios may not work because it is not bios updated (yet)

I ll try to switch it manually. Hopefully it is like you say. That is what I am counting on. Considering back up bios is default and need update to recognize ryzen 5 3600. And hoping that to be the reason I get nothing in screen. Cause I dont trust repair shops where I live. One asked for 40-60 $ for repair, another said it s cost wont be much more than 20 $. They confused me so much I give up trusting them and I hope I dont even need to go to them if it is all about bios problem.

I put "Improper Overclocking settings" as the old article about dual bios in gigabyte sites says , causing main bios failure.
