assuming I don’t pay hydro , would it be more profitable to have multiple motherboards running the GPUs , or would one board and risers be more profitable?

Second question: would I benefit from underclocking and under volting my cpu in the long run? Would it be better for system thermals? And say I want I resell the cpu after , I’m not going to feel like a complete asshole if it breaks withen a week of sale sort of thing , so would this benefit me in the long run ?

I’m waiting on a display rack , from a corner store (like where they have the chocolate bars and gum ). That’s what I’m going to use as a rack , so I have ample storage and airflow , so having a motherboard psu and like 4 GPUs per shelf wouldn’t be much of a problem.

I currently don’t have a motherboard and cpu combo I’m willing to “sacrifice” if something goes wrong. I’m trying to get a lga1151 Celeron, and was going to order a mining motherboard from amazon , and then risers but all together going that route would cost me around 250-300 Canadian $ . I found a deal on two dell optiplex i5 that have one gpu slot and 3 pcie slots for risers .and there is an extra amd desktop Id be getting as well , 3 desktops for 210 CAN$ and two of them could be repurposed miners , maybe even the third could be repurposed as well. Currently starting out I only have 4 GPUs I would be running lower end gpu , but my lowest end card has a potential to earn 50USD$ a month . Which isn’t a bad starting point . I haven’t tested the other cards yet , but they are better cards then the one I tested so I will hopefully have some profit.

Not to bring your hopes down, but you will (probably) never make a profit from GPU mining considering the initial cost of the hardware along with electricity costs.

And even if you do manage to break even (highly unlikely), you won't be making a lot of money.

if you go back to like 2010 you can make a killing GPU mining.

sadly this is 2020 and you need many ASIC machines + very cheap electricity to profit. so you pretty much need to be a corporation for it to be worth it.

You should have 3 pci slots on your motherboard , and then the 3 pcie slots that you can plug risers into . If you spent that much on a mining motherboard , you should atleast know the basics. And pcie risers are pretty basic in any gpu mining rig. You must have watched Linus’s video about this , and seen his solution, that took up all of two sentences in the video , because that’s how basic this question is .
