Yes but as said. For desktop use and gaming you will not notice a difference at all. If you want proof Linus made a video about it and all you really save is 2 seconds of boottime with faster drives and well nothing else changes.

So I have a Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI) ATX AM4 Motherboard. I am planning on using both M.2 drives. The drives soul reason for being in the system is to be my boot drive in a raid 1 setup. Along with having Final Fantasy XIV on it. (Take your shot after you answer the question).

My question is,  will the M.2 drive need cashe?

The plugs need type M. Also recommendations for drive welcomed. (Newegg or pcpartpicker) I don't need anything over 500gb.

Thank you in advance.

For gaming and general m.2 is pointless as you won't notice any difference between a semi decent sata drive. So just save some money and get a regular old sata ssd. Also why raid 1 a os drve with 1 game on it?

It is my boot drive. The only other thing living on it is an MMO. That's why.

That's exactly why I'm asking the question. If it's just windows and a game why even bother with raid? Also just so you know raid is not a backup.

Raid 1 is mirroring drives. Is it relevant on why? The fact is,  I want to do it.  I know it's overkill. I posted  here asking for advice on which M.2 drive not on explain why I want to do it this way.

Thank you. Will cashe be relevant for the drive if it is just for those two things?

TL:DR: Last system I built was back in 2012. It used an old Mobo from 2008. So I am just double checking with peers and people with more experience on their knowledge.

Also  PS: 2. The reason for the setup is my younger brother is building almost the exact same build. I am getting spending a bit more to show him what he can do in the future.

It's going to have 2 M.2 drives, 2 3.5 5400 ram 2tb drives setup in a RAID 1 setup. This build isn't just for me, it is for him to learn from.

Well dramless ssd's are slower and more cpu intensive so not recommended.
