Display port madness

I am completely new the the gaming PC world, and I may have done something silly. 
 

I got gaming computer (the starter from NZXT) which has 1 HDMI and 3 DP video out. 
 

I also got a monitor from Acer (GN246HL) which has 144 Hz capability. However, this monitor only has HDMI, DVI, and VGA inputs. 
 

In my mind, the ideal solution would be to go from HDMI to HDMI, however, I’m not sure if I will loose the 144 Hz for this particular monitor. 
 

If I can’t use the HDMI to HDMI and retain the 144 Hz, then what are my other options? (I’d prefer to not have to buy another monitor)

HDMI won't get more than 60 Hz on that monitor.
