add or replace memory?

currently i have 16gb (2x8gb) of 2400mhz on an asus z270-k motherboard. i recently purchased 16gb (2x8gb) more memory but it is ddr4 3000. i would like to know if there would be a bigger increase in performance by adding the ram to what is already there or if i should just swap out the old with the new.

32gb is always going to be better than 16gb but if you are just gaming on the computer you will see no difference. If you add the 3000mhz ram to the system it will run at 2400mhz unless you over click both sets.

Having different skus of memory in the same machine usually doesn't work out well, you'd need to downclock the 3000MHz memory to 2400MHz and it will probably have stability issues.
