So my friend has finally decided to join the pcmasterrace and has asked me to pick some parts for his computer. The computer will be used mainly for gaming, such as fortnite, warzone/cod, csgo and some triple A titles here and there.

https://au.pcpartpicker.com/user/jamesn/saved/#view=zMZdD3

These are the parts I have quickly picked out for now based on benchmarks e.t.c, but I will obviously adjust based on his budget (aiming for under $2k AUD, less is better) and he will be playing at 1080p 144hz (as the monitor I have chosen in the build). I feel like some things I have chosen might be overkill, but this is his first gaming PC, so I don't want to be too limiting. Could you guys help me see what things I can change to either make things cheaper or if there is anything that you guys think I should change based on compatibility e.t.c. Also because it is his birthday, my friends and I will be chipping in for one of the parts so it'll make the build go under $2k (which I have obviously passed in the build lol). Most likely be buying his monitor for him. The peripherals are not needed apart from the monitor.

P.S I know the new ryzen and nvidia stuff comes out at the end of the year but waiting till then isn't an option.

Thanks guys!

Quick summary:

Budget (including currency): Aiming for under $2000 AUD (the cheaper the better)

Country: Australia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly Gaming (Mostly fps/battle royal games)

Other details: 1080p resolution @ 144hz

In general, Samsung SSDs are very overpriced for a gaming PC, so they should never be your first choice.

B450 motherboards from MSI with the word Max in the name are guaranteed compatible with third gen ryzen, so they're important to consider.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

The above build is solid, except for the GPU and Power Supply. The Asus TuF model has MASSIVE overheating issues. Get a Sapphire Pulse, Power Color Red Devil or MSI Mech. The TuF models are horrible and will fail very very quickly due to the overheating memory.

The Power supply, while decent, is a budget unit. Consider a Corsair TXM model or a Be Quiet Pure Power Gold

Awesome! In regards to the GPU, is the one I listed in the original build that much worse than the one you suggested? Only because there is almost a $100 difference in price. Otherwise, really appreciate the help!

The Blower models have heat issues which means the fan runs at very high speeds and produces a lot of noise. The Pulse will run about 20-30*C cooler on both core and memory and will produce about half the noise while doing so. Basically, while the one you listed is a jet engine, the Pulse is barely audible.
