Help Please

iamtheapple

So I just upgraded from a 500w PSU and an RX580 4GB to a 650w PSU and a 5700XT. Now when trying to play a heavy graphics game, COD Modern Warfare or Train Sim 2020, my computer just crashes. Only way to boot back up is to flip the switch on the back of the PSU. Updated card drivers through AMD and no other drivers need updating. Rest of specs: Ryzen 5 1600, 16GB ram, B350 mobo.

Thanks

Should probably just reinstall windows with any major hardware changes.

Could try running a game from a linux USB just to see what happens without windows.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Make sure all the power cables are plugged all the way into your motherboard and graphics card. Had a problem once where the issue was with a loose 24 pin plug in. Don't forget to also check the 6 pin.

Good Luck!

So I just ran a blender render to see what would happen and no issues.100% card utilization and no crash. Maybe a driver issue?

What PSU are you using?

And with DDU, just uninstall all drivers and start fresh?

Yes uninstall all and get the latest drivers from AMDs website.

I think its CODs fault... I can’t play Warzone on my old PC just on my new one... maybe try contacting Activisions support.

Are other games working fine?

So I tried GTA V and same thing. Another question, I have an nvme drive in my only m.2 slot. Does that interfere with the card at all?

Finally had the chance to mess with it tonight. Reinstalled my old card and it plays totally fine. I’m going to contact MSI tomorrow and see what they say.
