Bought a 1070 for Asrock b450m steel legends I boot with 8pin plugged in properly! I don’t know if the motherboard is compatible with the card?

I don’t really understand what your asking. But yes, a GTX 1070 will work with any motherboard, there is no “compatibility” to have or not have. If the motherboard has PCIe, it will work.

I assume something isn’t working right? We will need more detail and information to help you fix whatever might not be working.

I read that someone’s motherboard wasn’t compatible with the 1070? Well anyways I put the 8pin PCI-E in to the connector (it’s clicked in) and nothing happens. Boot with 8 pin PCI-E in all boots up fine!

i have posted a YouTube video for anyone help!

Yea, you don’t want to do that... if you don’t plug the power plug in it will draw all of its power over the PCIe lane, which is only good for 75 watts.... which isn’t not nearly enough for a 1070. If the card has a power plug in it, that means it needs it.

I am still very confused what your issue is. Your saying you plugged the power cord in and it isn’t booting?

What are your system specs?

Dont run it without the power cable plugged in, if it works..... which it likely will for 2d desktop workloads, it will either crash in a 3d workload, or.... will eventually fry your motherboard by pulling way more amps through the PCIe lane then was ever engineered to work.

What is this video of? Yes, that’s your PCIe port. What are you asking..?

And to the post above this, pre-built machines can, while rare, but they can be firmware modified to only work with ATI or only NVIDIA. That’s a thing OEM’s like dell do sometimes. Any mobo you actually purchase from asus, gigabyte etc, they will not have this. And any GPU will work.

Was that a video you made of the issue? I’m so lost. Add more context to this, explain what’s happening. Give us a list of your parts. And write out what is happening and what you have tried.
