Hi, so i recently got my brother a display port cable for his monitor because the display only outputs 144htz over DP. After an hour of unplugging cables and turning things off and on again, nothing would make the computer output over DP. I thought this was just his computer being dumb. So i tried plugging in the cable to my PC (which is already using a display port to mini DP cable) and had the same issue. At that point i thought the cable was broken, returned it to amazon and got a different one, just received it in the mail today and i am still having the same issues. Is there a windows setting i am missing? It just doesn't make sense that DP wouldn't be working on either PC.

DP can be finicky.  Since you already have a second cable and you're pretty sure it's good, does the GPU only have one DP port?  Could that port be bad?

I'd reinstall the drivers first, then be patient as DP can take a long time to display an image on some systems.  I know HDMI is pretty instant, but DP can take a few seconds.

Both cables gave me the same issue, i waited a few minutes on both machine to see if they would grab the signal and got nothing. On my brothers card there is one DP port, and on mine i have 2.

DP can be an absolute pain. You have to find cables that are actually constructed correctly and verified to work. I was pulling my hair out trying to make DP work right with three different cables until I realized that, yes, ALL of them were bad. Or rather, they were made wrong. I covered a specific pin with a small piece of electrical tape on one of them and bam. It now worked perfectly. I now have a few correctly built DP cables and they all work perfectly fine.

The ones I got that work properly are these:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CD1FB3A/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They are legit, VESA Certified cables. I specifically bought the 2 meter 1.2 cable in the polybag.
