GTX 980 + Adobe suite

Hi guys,

 

I currently have an i5 4460 and 8 gb's of ram. I'm a graphic designer/photographer using a lot of apps in the adobe creative suite. CC 2020. How much will I benefit from having a gtx 980 instead of the igpu of my 4460?

 

There's no conclusive information online.

which apps are you using and for what cus each app is it is own weird thing.

you would only benefit in any of the apps that utilize the gpu like if you were rendering with it in premiere or after effects or wanted to have a resolution or some other color setting that the igpu doesnt support.

I'd say mostly Illustrator, Lightroom and photoshop. There's also the occasional After Effects and premier pro. But if I see any improvement in export times in lightroom and media encoder I'd be happy.

you'd likely do better with a 3600x and a 1650 super.

I'm not in the position to choose what to upgrade. I've got someone looking to get rid of a 980 for 70 USD, which is why I'm asking. That's all the budget I have, and I'm living in Ecuador, so it's not like I can get anything even close to that for just 70 dollars.

That's a good price for a 980. I paid $200 for my 980 TI (USA) last year. The prices seem to be the same as of today. I use Maverick render which is GPU based (CUDA) and they support parallel computing so I bought two 980 Ti's and plugged them in. I'm getting the performance for a RTX 2080 TI for the price of $400. That's how you screw Nvidia, lol.
