Minor upgrading (5yo Rig)

1. Budget & Location

- Budget < RM 200

- Location Malaysia

2. Aim

-I build the first PC with the help of my cousin brother with an i3 3gen CPU. 5 years later i upgraded the motherboard, cpu and  a nuw M.2 drive.

-I would like to use the PC for light gaming FPS(currently running CS:GO on very low setting)

-I would also use the PC to stream HD movies to my TV(hopefully). currently using an Acer 22" 1920 x 1080 monitor

3. Monitors

Currently running a very old Acer 22" LED 1920 x 1080 resolution display. Hoping to upgrade to a smart TV (50") 

4. Peripherals

No changes to other part. 

5. Why are you upgrading?

I want a better gaming(I only game once in a while when i have time) and movie experience but i would like to do it with less money to spend.

 

My current PC specs are as listed below.

 

CPU : Intel i5 - 6400 2.7Ghz

Motherboard : Gigabyte B150M-D3H-CF (Updated bios to version F24)

Memory : Single 8Gb Kingston HyperX DDR4

Graphics Card : Nvidia GeForce GT 630 (2Gb)

Speakers : Altec Lansing VS4621

Mouse : AVF Gaming Freak AGM-X1

Keyboard : AVF Gaming Freak AKB-GK1

 

Its ok if unable to get the pricing for Malaysia, I would appreciate a suggestion on the specs so I may consider for the upgrade.

Perhaps, the upgrade you should go with is, obviously, graphics card. GT 630 is a really, really, old one thing. Get something a lot newer like used GT 730 or GTX 950, even a GT 1030 if you found the right seller. The newer, the better.

 

Preferably get a new 1030 if you want to invest more, tho. You can even play 4K video on your system if you wanted to.

 

Your system's above average anyway, except for that one old graphics card, even I consider it is still pretty good for standards today. Other components won't even need upgrades for the next few years.

The 730 is a rebranded 630. You just told him to get a second identical slow card...

Look for a better used card. Say a 1050 To or 1650 - something that doesn't have a dedicated six pin power plug

Maybe another stick of ram as well as a gtx 1050 or even a 750ti if your budget is super tight

i've seen R9 290s on taobao for 300 yuan, assuming your PSU doesn't suck it'll be a big upgrade over your GT 630.

All used r9 cards are good deals at least where I live. But depending on the card they take up a lot of power

Ah, yes. Probably I'd need some more research later on then lol

 

But yeah, that's why I said preferably to get a newer generation card like so, tho.

Thanks for the input, I have upgraded to a GTX 1060 and a new power supply 650W.
