My computer's going though the weirdest thing and I don't know how to solve it.

About a month ago I tried booting it up and the computer itself would turn on, but wouldn't send power to the monitor. Only notable thing is that the dram light would turn on. I used to have that problem before but after hitting the reset button a few times, it'd boot up normally, but no matter how many times I did it then, the light would stay on.

I figured the ram went bad (it was 8 GB 2x4 GB) and took a 2 GB stick from another computer and it ran without any issues.

Fast forward to today where I got 16 GB (2x8 GB) and the same issue as above happened again.

I've tried everything, I've tried running the sticks individually, I've tried clearing CMOS, and I've made sure the ram is compatible (which from what I've gathered, they are), and nothing's helping

So why does 2 GB of ram work perfectly on this computer, but anything higher than that causes the dram light to come on?

I'm on Windows 10, my motherboard is ASUS M5A97 R2.0, the two 4GB sticks are Kingston, the 2GB is Samsung, and the new two 8GB sticks are are Viper

EDIT: I should mention that a friend gave me this computer and it sat around doing nothing for a year, so I wonder if that has to do with anything.
