Problem with Blender

I have been experiencing some problems with the new Blender2.82a.  First problem i been learning how to create a anvil through the Blender tutorial, the Blender Guru is using an older version of Blender v2.79, when he has too many vertacies after he shows how to do a Booloan cut all he does is press W on the key board to deleat too many vertacies, i try same press W and only get changes in my curser.

 

The problem is save as, to try to save my anvil, then when i go back into Blender2.82 and open my recent project anvil blender nothing is their, dont know why the donut i creaed that worked, also i watched the tutoriel coffee cup and saucer, he shows how to convert white into glass, he adjust the transmission from 0.0000 to 1.000 to get glass coffee cup i did the same all i got is Black color coffee mug no clear glass, unless the Blender guru has a top secret Blender program and a interstellar computer, he must be a marshan.
