This hole post is confusing to me since the OP said "The computer runs but won't boot and I can't even get into the bios"

In this situation I would use the integrated graphics on my Intel CPU but AMD's don't have integrated graphics. The only other thing I would do is put in another video card and most people don't have spare cards(I do because paranoid).

And i might get like a gt 710 or smth just for further problems

No.

Your situation is just plain hard.

The thing is it could be many things.

You need to test your GPU in another computer to see if it has failed. If it has not you need to start testing other parts of your computer and that is even harder to do.

If is was easy building your own computer and troubleshooting it everybody would be doing it.

With this hobby you have to take the good with the bad and right now you are up to your eyeballs in bad.

All you can do is persevere.

This will be very hard since I dont have two rigs like you. And i am just intermediate when it comes to pc since i still have a lot to learn.

About the problem again, do you think there is a way you can guide me through the process of testing my hardware?

Well on the bright side you have some idea of what it isn’t.  That’s still progress.  Troubleshooting is like that sometimes.  More testing I guess.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Heh. I’m bored but I’m old and not really very good compared to a lot of people here.  What you’re doing now is probably the best path.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

The way I do it is with another computer and there is no easy way to do it without.

Each component has to be tested starting with the GPU.

First, remove the card and the reinstall it. Disconnect and reconnect the PCie cables from the GPU to the PSU as well.

Second, try the next PCie slot.

Also check your monitor by testing it with another source like a console. Also If you have a TV, try plugging into that.

That is about all you can do without a second computer.

The rest needs parts. Like an old HDD with Windows installed to see if your SSD or motherboard is faulty.

Good Luck.

I will get a gt 710 or a low end gpu to test. My logic is that if the 710 works fine and everything is fine then it is the gpu but if the gpu also doesn't work then its the mobo or cpu or ram or anything else honestly. would u recommend this? also i am prolly gonna call a tech specialist guy to help me but the covid-19 isnt helping with that way of fixing.

There is sort of another way and that is to use RMA to effectively use the manufacturer’s computer to test things.  It happens by mail and takes a long time.  You RMA a part, so the part is known good.  Manufacturers kind of hate it and it takes forever.

Having a spare GPU is a good idea. Mine is a GTX 980 ti. It is an RMA that I did not think would go through so I replaced it with GTX 1080.

My original 980 ti was destroyed by a faulty PCie cable.

It will eventually go into a charity build.

If the 710 works fine then you need to look to your PSU.

It requires that the part in question still be under warranty and it was correctly registered etc..  if you bought the part at a B&M retailer sometimes they will do the stuff for you.  Iirc RMA stands for “return merchandise authentication” or something like that.  Each OEM will have a different setup.  Generally the thing has to be arranged and an RMA number issued which allows shipment back to the factory.  The part is then tested by the company and either a new part or the old one is sent back.  It usually takes several weeks.  I don’t know how much this has been changed lately by virus stuff.  OEMs are often in Taiwan.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

If your GPU is not getting enough power it will not turn on.  A 710 uses a lot less power.

True.  I wonder if there is a way to throw som sort of variable resister into the mix to get it to do that?  Would require some hackery and the resistor would need its own cooling system.

I don't know.

My FTW3 Ultra has a switch since it has two bioses but I don't know of any other switch.

I blame AMD for this sort of thing and reviewers that think it is ok for CPUs not to have integrated graphics.

I know that I would not buy a CPU without it because stuff happens.

Yea honestly integrated graphics help alot. my rtx 2060 super doesnt have a switch but i can check again. and my build is mostly budget like mid-range so its not high end like urs.

High end stuff can help.  My ASUS Hero motherboards have LED readouts that show codes that tell my why the system stopped before booting and have reset and start buttons so they don't need a case. They are considered a luxury be I think they should be on laa motherboards.

I am a kid so i rlly cant afford those things but my mobo does have led which means if it lights up then at least the psu is still providing some power. And yea the asus hero are a real luxury. I am a kid so i rlly cant afford those things but my mobo does have led which means if it lights up then at least the psu is still providing some power. And yea the asus hero are a real luxury. You literally have my dream pc and stuff. also a quick question, why do you use the cooler master haf cases?

They still keep things cool with their 200mm fans. So many cases nowadays are not as efficient so it is hard to replace them.

200mm fans have their upsides and downsides.  They’re incredibly quiet because they produce a lot of cfm at very low rpm.  They have serious problems with static pressure though so cases basically have to be specially designed to take them and they can’t do radiators at all.  The air will just “bounce off”

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

I am probably going with Hybrid GPUs next gen and the Hafs are not designed for that. Can you recommend a replacement that can also accommodate a Noctua NH D15?

I bought a SilverStone Technology RL06BR-GP for a i9 9900k build and I loved the build quality of the case but it was too narrow for 2 fans on the Noctua NH D15 and the little case fans are too noisy under load. Fortunately I won the silicon lottery on the i9 9900k so it can run cool with one fan even with an all core 5ghz overclock and I built the computer for my Son to use when he is in town so I don't have to listen to it.

I would love to find a case the has the build quality of the SilverStone and be quiet like the ols Hafs.
