Well, I decided to order a custom G46VW from HIDevolution, since I couldn't find one with the screen resolution I wanted (1600x900), and international warranty, as I live outside the US.

Here are the specs of my order:

Processor: 3rd Gen i7-3630QM 2.4Ghz

Thermal Paste: Free IC Diamond on CPU+GPU

OS: WIndows 8

Keyboard: US QWERTY

Video Card: Nvidia 660m 2GB GDDR5

LCD Panel: 14" EWV (1600x900) LedBacklight

Display Guarantee: Asus Zero Bright Dot

Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz

mSATA SSD: Crucial M4 SATA3 6Gb/s 128GB mSATA SSD

Primary Hard Drive: 500GB 7,200 RPM SATA 3Gb/s

Extended Warranty: 1 Year International warranty by HIDevolution

That pretty much cost me $1.688 USD (Might seem a whole lot for US/Canada residents but for people that live overseas thats reasonable even after paying import taxes)

Processor 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3630QM 2.4GHz (6MB Cache, up to 3.4GHz w/ Turbo Boost 2.0) - installed by HIDevolution - $125.00
14.0" HD+ Antiglare with EWV (1600x900) LED Backlight - PREORDER ETA April 10 - $125.00
Memory Corsair Vengeance 16GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz (2DIMMS) - installed by HIDevolution - $120.00
d Service 1 Year HIDevolution Global Warranty with LIFETIME HIDevolution Technical Support - $125.00And here is how it all went...

First of all because I ordered my G46 when HID had not yet received the new 1600 by 900 resolution LCD panels, my order was delayed, I placed it on April 9th and they actually started working on it by April 25th, (keep in mind HID is a rather small company, they actually did pretty good) my order was processing for about two days, and after contacting them about the order status and shipping they actually came through for me; I had not though about any LCD related delays on their part, I needed the computer delivered by April 29th, so they offered to pay extra shipping on their own to get delivered to me on time (This shows the really care!)

Well finally I got my hands on it and I tell you they do an exceptional job with the customization they do, there is no signal of the computer ever been opened (besides the Asus seal on the box being broken of course) everything worked out of the box!

The only thing I had to do was go in Disk Manager and set my secondary HDD, as they didn't do that for me it wasn't showing up on my Computer, in about 2 minutes I had it working and running fine.

I'll probably update this review of their service in the future (I just hope I never need to talk about the warranty, by that I mean I hope I never need it hehe). Though I trust their both way shipping is proof enough of their quality work.

I would recommend HIDevolution, to anyone! Specially if you live outside the US and need a cheaper alternative than buying locally.

Main Rig: i7 3770k, 16Gb Corsair Vengeance LP, MSI MPower Z77, Corsair H60, MSI GTX 780 LightningI, Ultra X4 1050Watts, 128gb SSD, 4tb Storage.

How is it?

I'm thinking of getting a G46 as well but I've seen a couple of reviews saying that the screen brightness is a bit low even on maximum. However, all these reviews were referring to the lower resolution US model (G46VW-BHI5N43, 1366x768). What you have (I believe) is really close to the one available from NCIX in Canada (G46VW-DS51-CA, 1600x900). What are your thoughts about it?

Thanks :)

For the price I would actually say that's pretty impressive. I had my hate cannon all ready for the prebuilt boutiquey thing and I can't use it.

Nice.

[update]

Well so far I've had no issues to report, the lappy behaves perfectly and stays cooler than what I expected under heavy workloads!

About HID all I have to say is EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. They have been nothing but great to me!

That's good news. From what I've seen and heard, Asus's laptops are great quality and last well..

What do you think of the 14" screen? I have a 17" and it feels a bit small when gaming (especially when sniping at a long distance in BF3).

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

I wen't from a 15" MBP to the G46VW and yeah it seem too small at first, but for portability and lightness its worth it (IMO), for gaming I have another rig, mostly I've played some League of Legends and its Ok...

Some times it gets annoying having to scroll twice the "normal" amount xD and when using graphic design software well... it makes you work harder b/c you need to be zooming in all the time to take a better look :/

But then again, portability does it for me :)
