Hi everyone. I dont believe I did enough research before building my pc. It's a ryzen 5 1600, 16gb of corsair 3600, ryzen 580 8gb on a asrock x370 pro4. I just finished putting it together and it will not post. I've tried reseting my cmos. Maybe a compatibility issue or perhaps a bios issue. I'm really stumped on this one

Is this a Ryzen 1600 or a Ryzen 1600AF?

Check the CPU box and see the product code.

It will either be:

- YD1600BBAFBOX

or

- YD1600BBAEBOX

Note the AE vs AF.

Have you plugged the monitor into the videocard? Have you tried booting with a single stick of RAM?

What other steps have you taken in troubleshotting?

Its a AF and I've tried one stick of ram and also have moved to different slots as well, I have plugged my gpu into a monitor and I get no input, even tried swapping gpus

Your motherboard does not have the right BIOS for that CPU.

The 1600AF is much newer than the X370 motherboard (manufacturing date is probably 2019/2020 for the 1600AF vs. 2017/2018 for the motherboard).

You need an older CPU to update the BIOS.

So I would need to find a older cpu or look for a new motherboard?

Yep, basically.

The page I linked shows a way to borrow an older CPU from AMD so you can update the BIOS and send back the CPU.

Perhaps a PC store near you has the ability to update the BIOS for free/a small fee.
