Poor display quality

DewisLavid

Hi i have an Alianware aw2518hf and when viewing certain images in 1080p some shades appear to look boxy and grainy, sorry these aren't very technical terms but i was wondering if someone could help me?

That sounds like a problem with the image and not the monitor, like the image is compressed.

It is an 6 bit plus frc panel so it only emulates 16.7 million colors with dithering.

Good for office work but not much else.

i use it to play games because of the 240hz so image quality isnt overly important because i prefer the higher frame rates but it appears it does it With multiple images and games, was thinking it may be something to do with the quality of the display but i dont really have any idea why it does this ill try and find an example of this.

COD.thumb.jpg.a37a11632dba9b0623ac16829549deb5.jpg

it doesn't show it too well as the photo was taken on my Phone but i don't know if you can tell on call of duty the image doesn't appear like this for other people, i have a second display but is a 4k display so not much use for cod but the image quality appears the same even in 4k so i was wondering if it was something to do with my settings, i have checked it on the xbox and it looks completely different, maybe its just my eyes
