first pc i decided to build on my own. i did some quick research on parts and checked compatibility on pc part picker. but since its a bit of a large investment, i want a proper opinion from ppl who know what they are doing.

my budget is around 2500 to 3000 CAD, i dont care what it looks like. this is for gaming as well as render work in maya and the like. i usually use 2 monitors, and im probably going have one at least 4k monitor

to save on building the whole thing new, i want to use my existing case, psu, and optical drive which i added to the list for reference. one thing i wasnt sure on at the least was if i could use the watercooled fan from the gpu on the side of my pc case. it has 2 cutout for 120mm fans on the side

this build is very wierd. 120mm aio is very bad, even decetn air cooler will beat that. some high end air coolers even beat 240mm aio's. I came up with a better build:

how are motherboards chosen beside needed connections to other parts? i dont see a difference beside a lost of a pci-e slot, audio and lan chipset.

ive seen that air cooler pop up a few times so il switch to that. what about for the gpu, would it be better to have the one i selected with liquid cooling or go with a fan based one?

The more expensive motherboards tend to have more overhead for overclocking.  Since you are using a 3900x with the need for work loads, I think the motherboard you chose is perfectly fine.  However, the Asus TUF 570 will run a 3900x as well.  And the general mood of this forum is parsimony.  They will generally recommend the minimum needed.

Other things one pays with motherboards are feature. Some boards come with WIFI, the board you selected does not.  Some have better audio, more connections, better connections, better LAN, troubleshooting help like bios flashback Q-code LEDs.  If you want 2 NVME drives, you should definitely check make sure that the motherboard supports two NVME.

If you want to save some money, the Tuf-gaming will work.
