So I've been having some issues with OC and all that lately, so the reddit overclocking community recommended I reset my BIOS to defaults so I did. Now the only thing I have running is XAMP, my ram is at 3600, and PBO is on. No voltage or core changes other than PBO. However I'm still seeing random temp spikes from 35-40c up to 57c.. its really got me confused, the reddit people didn't specifically say if it was normal or not, they just said reset my bios, so I did, but its still happened.

I'm aware 57c isn't hot at all, but why is it jumping like that? Is it normal? I am 99% sure my cooler is mounted right, I did a little bit bigger than a pea size paste, so that should be fine, case is good air flow, etc etc.

Can somebody just re-assure me im over exaggerating?

The os always does something in the background and use resources event when it's idle.   Those spikes are probably what you are seeing as the background task probably use some processing power.
