Okay, so i've never build a pc before and dont know whether i should upgrade the family pc which i now own which is an acer Veriton with an i3 and 4gb of ram or whether to build a new pc with my budget of around £250, can go higher to about £300.

What motherboard and power supply are in that system?

If you're fine with like 30-45 fps in AAA games, and 60fps in esports games, just toss a used RX 470/480/570/580 into it, and maybe upgrade the power supply.

If the motherboard bios can be upgraded and the VRM isn't like single phase you can try throwing a cheap used i7 into it.

Otherwise you're maxxing out your budget just getting an APU

Unless you just reuse your powersupply/case/storage, in which case look for a used 2400G or 3400G at ~$100 max, then just add a better powersupply/GPU later

The Pro 4 should have an updated Ryzen 3000 bios by now.
