Hello,

Recently I've posted a thread here asking about my choice of parts on my planned upcoming very first PC build. But I feel like I could better use some of that money elsewhere but still want to get a decent PC. Here's the new list I've picked up.

CPU: Ryzen 5 2600

GPU Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 Super

Motherboard Asrock B450M Steel Legend

RAM Kingston HyperX Fury DDR4 3200Mhz (2x8)

SSD Intel 660p 512 GB M.2 NVME PCIe

PSU Cooler Master MWE 500 Watt

I need help with potential alternative parts that may further bring down the cost without compromising too much. I am only looking for 1080p gaming at >60 fps at high settings. 512GB SSD is more than enough for me. My budget is roughly $730 (USD) or RM 3200 (Malaysia Ringgit which is what I'll be paying in). The parts listed above fits the target but I couldn't help but think that there might be better choices out there. Mind you the $730 budget includes the case, which I've already picked out (I got a really good deal for $40). So it only leaves $690 for pure hardware. Of course, further reduction without giving up too much would be greatly appreciated.

If my picked parts is the best I can get, are there any major bottlenecks? That is it, thank you for your time! :)

Not sure how much this costs in Malaysia, but it should save you some money without losing performance

After many hours of searching, I couldn't find a Ryzen 5 1600 AF via Malaysian sourcing unfortunately. And the Ryzen 5 1600 isn't that much cheaper than 2600 so I guess if the AF version is available, it wouldn't be much cheaper either.

May I ask what is the difference between the MSI B450M Pro and the Asrock B450m Steel legend? I found one for $65 but is skeptical because of the huge price difference between the two.

Unfortunately the SSD's aren't any cheaper here compared to my choice. As for the memory, I am extremely jealous of others who can get ram for cheap. For some unknown reason, all the ram here in Malaysia is extremely expensive. To get above 3000Mhz 16 GB (2x8) costs roughly $90. So no changes there.

Finally, the power supply only costs $1 cheaper than my choice so I don't see the need for change here as well.

Anyway, thank you for your reply! :)

the msi board has less features and doesn't look that nice, but has good vrms and it's a good quality board. if it's only $65, that's a steal, go for it.

for ssd, you can get a sata one instead of nvme and that should save you some money.

Thanks for clearing that up for me! I'll look into potentially going for SATA. :)
