I am looking to add an Audio Interface to my setup. I want to connect an XLR microphone to the interface and also use it as my main audio output for the computer.

Now imagine the following scenario:

I connect the interface to my PC via USB. I have the interface as my main input and output. I play a game and I am in a voice chat with someone. Now of course the person I talk to is not supposed to hear the game sound, just my voice.

For a device I was thinking about the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. Is it possible to separate the audio this way even though both of it goes through the same interface?

Yeah, It would be pretty silly if recording studios had to remove the backing track from every recording they made. What you're describing as the way you want it to work is the way it works for every single interface I am aware of and I'm aware of a load of them.

If you want to spend extra for the red case the focusrite isn't a bad deal but in all honesty the sound quality difference between interfaces at this price point is less than minimal, I'd suggest getting a cheaper Behringer UMC series interface instead, save yourself some cash to get a good mic.
