Hello,

I am looking for advice on a proper build. I will list below my budget and end goal for this gaming system.

1. Budget & Location

$1500-$2000 the reason for this large gap in budget is I am currently living in Germany and because of the current situation in the world getting PC parts shipped to my APO address isn’t possible so I’ll need to order parts for euro. The max I am willing to go is $2000 USD though.

2. Aim

It will be for 1080P 144Hz gaming. And light streaming/ content creation.

3. Monitors

I currently have 2 27” monitors 1080P 60Hz.

I do play to upgrade to a 24” 1080P 144hz when I find the right deal. The upgraded monitor will not be in the budget above and I will only run 2 monitors max.

4. Peripherals

I have mouse and keyboard with a decent headset. May need a better headset for streaming though.

5. Why are you upgrading?

My current system is a
i7-6700K
Maximum VIII Hero Motherboard
16GB of DDR4 2666Mhz (But shows in CPU-Z at 1332MHz)
Zotac 1060 6GB GPU
the system right now runs okay for most games I play but isn’t really capable of doing what I want it to do for my gaming/streaming/content creation.

thanks in advance for helping a novice out. I’ve been researching for a few weeks now and I was always told to Intel for gaming and amd for things like video editing and such. But now I hear and is good for gaming as well.

Instead of the dark rock pro go with the d15, Get a actually decent m.2 at 1tb instead of 500gb, Dont use a cheapo x570 motherboard, get a 650watt or max 750 watt psu, and get 2 more case fans.

No need for a 3900x really, but admittedly I did waste some ( a lot ) of money for aesthetics. I recommend not to follow this, just use it as a guide for blinging out your pc, if you so choose :)

The 2080S is a tad overkill for 1080p mind you but it fit the budget, so why not.

Yes I’ll be ordering from Germany as right now we can’t have things shipped to our APO which would be considered an American address even though it’s in Germany.

My current idea was a 3700X with the B450 Tomahawk Max with 32GB of 3200-3600 MHz Ram. With a 2070S as it seems more than enough for a 1080P 144Hz gaming experience along with the light streaming.

It's also worth noting I am willing to upgrade just my GPU at this time if it'd help my gaming for now and wait on the new Intel/AMD cpus to roll out and see where they land as far as price to performance. I made a small edit to my first post to include everything my current PC has since I am now on a PC at work and not posting from my phone haha.

am I wrong for anything above? And I’ll check out the suggested builds in more detail when at home currently heading into the office.

If you wanted it more like $1500, then swap out the 2080 ti for a 2080 or 2080 super and go for 16gb ram instead

This is completely overkill for 1080p gaming! I would get a 1440p monitor. here are some I recommend (sorry this is UK amazon but you should be able to find them somewhere else for US or EU price: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-Nitro-VG271UPbmiipx-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B07P6S61TS/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=1440p+144hz+27+inch+monitor&qid=1587579592&sr=8-4

Not that motherboard though as it is rubbish. And yes a 2080 ti is major overkill for 1080p. A 5700XT would make more sense. You also don't need an 850W psu. The Arctic Freezer 34 esports/duo is better than the 212 evo.

This is what I have been looking at myself. I know even using a 2070 Super for 1080P 144Hz gaming is a bit overkill but I want to make my components works less so they will be able to last me longer. And if I do decide to go with a 1440P monitor later I have that option open to me without needing major upgrades.

Is there anything in the above that you'd say is bad? This is still a bit pricier than I'd like because euro to dollars will make this cost in the $1700 range but I can afford it within the budget I set for myself.
