Advice for a new ring

Hi everyone. I hope you're all doing well under the current circumstances.

 

Since I've had more time to game than work, I've realized how bad my rig performs in a lot of games, I recently bought a cheapy ssd and an RX 5500 xt but I made this PC in around 2014-2015 and I realized there wasn't much of a point in upgrading it as the performance gains from the ssd and new graphics card were pretty minimal so I've decided to build a new rig and gives this one to my mum

 

Besides watching a bit of LTT every now and then I haven't kept up with the latest  tech and I could use some advice on What kind of cpu/mobo/etc would pair well with the 5500

I've decided to splurge a bit of the savings so my budget is around 1000-1200 aud give or take.. I know the Australian dollar is pretty low at the moment so 1000 aud is only like 630 us but pc part prices are decent over here I think, for example I paid roughly 150 us for the 5x 5500 though that was at a small discount
