Advice on old Edit Hardware as MIDI

Ello

I have a quick question. Is it possible to use old video editing hardware as a MIDI to pc ?

In my case I got a Videonics Edit Suite Model AB-1 from a friend who found it in his garage. (probably used by his father at some point).

From a quick glance at the user manual I found that you can connect it to a pc but it's mostly for saved variables or presets from what I understand.

Maybe it would be possible to use the VCR CONTROL on the back and send those signals somehow to the pc ? Or use an adapter but not sure what signal to try and adapt.

If anyone has any experience would appreciate some advice on this matter.

Thank you !

You have to connect it with the serial interface and then somehow figure out

1. what scancodes (if any) it is sending out

2. if you can reprogram those

Probably the simplest solution would be to just use AutoHotKey or something but it probably isn't worth it.

So my best bet is to get an RS-232c to usb adapter and see if it sends any signals to my pc.

Eh shame that control wheel is so smooth. Would be nice if I could use it to move some sliders around.
