The shape of the two mice is completely different and besides have the same number of buttons roughly in the same location they are very different mice. I personally think the change was for the better but everyone may not feel the same.

Yeah. the buttons on the side are also mechanical. I think I might upgrade mine to the 2014 version

its either the m45, deathadder, kone pure optical and the logitech g602.. i dont use any mouse im using a macbook pro with touchpad also im coming from consoles over to pc so im basically a first timer. Overall i just want a great mouse that will last and is great for fps and some mmo games..

Assuming you're still stuck between the M40/M45 and the Deathadder, what is it you're having trouble deciding on? Shape? Looks?

Out of curiosity, what mouse do you have now?

I originally planned on getting the naga 2014

I have the razer naga 2012 and I really like it. And from what I have heard the 2014 version is even better, unless you want to  change the grip type on the side

Yea id recommend it. The only original Naga id want would be a hex since those side buttons are actually normal mouse switches.

I love the corsair m65 for both fps and mmo. my k95 has enough keys to map around anyway so I don't need nor want the m95 extra keys.

m65 on dota 2 = red button = pots.

Why not just use back or forward (button 4 and 5) for that?

the 2 extra buttons on the left is for my item skill slot. like mek/shivas/sb etc.

it's the way I got used to it xD.

The best gaming mouse is whatever fits your hand. There are ones with better tracking than others, but in the end, the actual differences are pretty insignificant.

Zowie did a pretty bad implementation of their sensors, but tons of Counter Strike pros use them regardless.
