These are the components i currently have in my cart and i want to add a Valve index to my purchase list. Would this system be able to run VR games consistently or would i be facing some fps issues?

I would do two things:

1- If you can get 32GB of RAM, I'd do that. I've seen Far Cry 5 hit 18GB of usage on my computer. And if you get a 3200MHz kit, it would help keep the price within reason:

2- Unless you plan on playing HL:Alyx (Since it seems to be the only VR game worth playing outside of DCS or F1) right now as soon as you build it, I would get a cheaper video card like a 1660 Super or 5600XT, and buy a GeForce 3000 series card in August, along with a Valve Index. I know AU prices are alot different than U.S., but $900 for a 2070 to me seems like a terrible value to me.

@Action_Johnson Brilliant, i'll take your advice and pick up 32GB of 3600MHz RAM.

In regards to the GPU the new GPUs would probably be out of my budget if i'm picking up the new ram. Would you say i should stick with a 2070S at 890$ or switch over to a gigabye radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB Gaming OC for 720$ the price difference is only about 170$ but is the performance much of an increase?

2070S should be faster than a 5700XT I would think?
