Intel i9-9900K or AMD 3900X? Need Help

Hhhhh

Hi all,

Kinda stuck, looking to spend about $2250 USD (I live in Ireland but for ease I'm sticking to USD pricing due to Newegg and PCPartPicker).

For the Intel build I'm fairly set on the 9900K on an ASUS Prime Z390A with a Gigabyte 2060 Super and 16GB G.Skill 3600 Ripjaws V Series, and an Optane H10 32GB + 512GB Boot Drive (Currently in a bundle with the motherboard for a good price).

I've seen that at the moment the 3900X pricing is very competitive but what has me tied is the motherboard, I want to keep the Thunderbolt 3 capability as my laptop and external SSDs use it.

If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

What's the build for? If gaming, a 9900/3900 with a 2060 super is pretty unbalanced, you should shift more money from cpu to gpu

Gaming mainly, dont want to run into any CPU bottlenecking, which is my reasoning for high investment in the CPU.

Then you decided to go with a GPU bottleneck instead?  Why?

What resolutions are you gaming in?

I would go with a ryzen 3700x and a 2070 super

Why would you go that way then out of curiosity?

Then a 9900K + 2070 Super would be better.  More balanced than previous.

now that theres a viable thunderbolt 3 solution for you in Ryzen, theres really no reason to go intel.

Unless you are chasing every last one of those fps at 200+Fps.
