Currently running an i5 - 3rd gen and an Rx 570 8GB, the Ryzen 1600AF seems like a good option to upgrade to, I was wondering tho, if that would bottleneck any future GPUs ? How far would I be able to upgrade my GPU before being botlenecked by an 1600AF?

Going to really depend on the game and the resolution you are running. The 1600af won't be that much better at single thread performance. In terms of bottle neck, it is going to be pretty close to what you have.

Personally I wouldn't try 1080p gaming with anything more than a 1660, 2060 super or 5500xt.

Unless you are planning on upgrading to ryzen 3 within a year or so, I wouldn't bother with that cpu upgrade. I would save the money and look at mid range options late this year unless you need to upgrade now.

1600AF/2600 is already old, so upgrading to it now is playing outdated catch-up.

Going into a 1600AF now only to upgrade to third gen later also is a waste.

Imo, if you can afford it, go to third generation now, and skip the intermediate step.

If not, a 1600AF will still be plenty useful, but don't upgrade too soon after or you lose the benefit of the chips' innate value.

Nah 1600AF is still based on Zen+, which is not better at gaming than say, 4th gen i5 (and we all know how gains slowed down since 2nd gen on Intel CPUs). R5 3600 (if not the 3500/3500x) should be what you aim for, that will last up to a 2080Ti if the game isnt that CPU heavy, even then it could still pair up with a 2070S/5700XT pretty well. As games in the future tends to raise in GPU requirements much faster than CPU, you can expect it to hold up to at least 2 generations of GPUs.

Seems like everyone agrees it is better to wait a month or 2 then buy a ryzen 3600 ? Anyways my next upgrade will probably be a GPU one, which is why I need to buy a CPU that wouldn't become a bottleneck when I upgrade the GPU in a year or so.
