Dell P2314?

I am looking at picking up a pair of new monitors. I really like my monitors to match so I would rather buy two new ones since my current monitor is no longer made. Anywho, I want a 23-24 inch IPS with a height adjustable stand and vesa mount.

 

I found this, Dell P2314H that seems to fit the bill.

 

It will be used for some gaming, (although I am not good enough to notice a super fast response time), CAD work, web browsing, email, word etc.

Should be Fine. A Lot of People recommend the U Series from dell, but I'd Pick This monitor instead of Them since This is mostly the same but uses an actual dimming circuit for the backlight.

And the price is almost the same

What is the difference between the U series and P series? Excuse my ignorance but what do you mean by an actual dimming circuit?

Just reading reviews and looking at the specs I really don't see a difference.

But the U is UltraSharp and P is Professional and I think the U is a higher end series but the P was just updated.

And the U series uses a PWM solution for the backlight which means that the light flickers with the dimming circuit it doesn't.

I am using the P2314H and in my opinion it is an excellent monitor. 

 

I have not used the U series though but mostly the specs are the same and this monitor uses an AH-IPS panel instead of the e-IPS used in the U2312HMs

I think P2314H is a replacement for U2312HM. U series is usually better than P series.
