You'll need a 1xxx or 2xxx chip to boot and update the board. If you don't have one, you can contact AMD and they can send you a boot kit.

 

Or you could buy a much cheaper board like a pro-VDH MAX from MSI where it is already updated

I would suggest getting the msi b450 tomahawk as it has a bios flashback so if it doesn't come with the latest bios you can just flash it without having to install a cpu ram etc and its 10 dollars more. Though you need a functioning computer and a usb stick to do it.
