Hey everyone,

I am looking to replace my Steel Series Arctis Pro Headset + Gamdac. I loved the headset, but I haven't even owned it two years and it is beginning to give out on me.

The main things I liked about it was sound control, and the ear muffs and the lack of intense pressure on my head (I had a Fenix Aria set before them that caused me headaches from pressure and I didn't like the muffs much)

I am not too knowledgeable of the audio scene, but I use my headset mostly for high quality sound while gaming (footsteps etc), and listening for music.

Thanks for your help!

I am not really going to limit myself too much. So, just like...not studio grade 1000 dollar stuff, but you know, something good.

I don't *need* a microphone, but its not a deal breaker by any means. I don't know what the back means though.

Dude.. We can't help you.

You're doing the equivalent of saying "Hey I want a car. For driving and stuff. I don't want a Maserati, but you know, something good.

We can't do anything without a budget. A ballpark. Anything. Is your budget under 1k? You're wasting peoples time if they take what you said and recommend $750 headphones, and you go "too expensive"

So do some reasearch into quality headphones, the difference between open/closed back, amps/dacs, etc. With some form of a budget then come back.

Well, I wouldn't do that if i wasn't going take a request seriously.

But let me be clear, I wanted recommendations and the reason I originally didn't set a budget is I didn't want to constrain myself because in reality I don't know what the quality is, to cost ratio. I would like to spend around what the Arctis Pros cost me which is 250, but that is a flexible number.

I enjoyed having external control of my sound beyond the computer, the GameDac that came with my headset was amazing.

I am not sure what I would rate the Artcus Pro for Closed/Open. They are definitely closed, but they vented heat really well too. I almost never suffered from them if not for the fragility of the unit I would just turn around and buy another.

Its not that I haven't done "research" at all, I just tend to use word of mouth sources a lot. My friend called the open and closed thing something different, but I got the jist of it.

Important things:

Some level of noise blocking. (Doesnt have to be noise cancelling, but if I can hear outside the headset clearly it's a no go for me)

Some level of external sound control. If this is a DAC or an Amp I don't mind, as long as I can hook it up to my pc. (I had a more professional device from a long while back that required a different connection than my pc could use.)

Around that price I mentioned above 200 bucks, but I am flexible and willing to go much higher if something is really amazing. I would be a hard sell if I need to go really far above that, but i would love to learn about those quality things too from the community.

If it is for gaming, that is a plus.

I have no opinion on the microphone. They are nice if I am away from my main set up. But I have an external mic too. So it's basically don't let that color your opinion.

Hopefully that is a better clarification.

Edit: I have read that my current DAC can work with other headsets, so I am going to try that, so I do already have one of those.
