I'm using the Microsoft Surface Keyboard and the Microsoft Surface Headphones together on one USB 2.0 Bluetooth dongle and the PC is connected to the phone for desktop-PC telephoning (even though I just use that for caller signaling in the windows notifications).

With the Keyboard and the Headphones connected via that bluetooth dongle I experience lags in bluetooth audio. When I connect one of the devices to the PC ports (headphones via audio cable or keyboard via USB) everything's fine.

Are there speedy USB dongles using a USB 3.0 interface?
Is bluetooth or USB 2.0 the limit here?

I can't use two dongles together because of overlapping frequencies...

Or are pci-e Bluetooth cards the way to go here?

It's a big bequiet SilentBase 800 case, so I think a PCIe Antenna hiding behind the table next to a large metal case isn't really better.

You are allowed to have animated avatars on LTT, but - try to have images like "userbars" in the signature - no chance...

(if you want to have the most effective mousepad - use a colored matte floor tile)

Bluetooth has really low bandwidth, less than 1Mbps; even a USB1.1 could saturate it, so no, using USB3.0 for it would be pointless.

so writing text while listening to headphone music is already a bit too much for that Megabyte?

Well, yes and no. Actually Bluetooth 3.0 can do 2-3 Mbps easily and even up to 24 Mbps when using 802.11. Bluetooth 4-5 are in the 1-2Mbps range due to power consumption.

What Bluetooth chip do you have? It really depends on the chip capability. My MacBook Pro can handle A2DP headphones, keyboard and mouse all at the same time.

But it also depends on the devices that you have connected. My old headphones (Bluedio ones) could not work together with keyboard and mouse connected. Current Bose headphones are fine.

Another thing is that if there are many WiFi networks, this could also make the Bluetooth connection much more prone to issues, as WiFi and Bluetooth use the same frequency band.

It's a USB dongle I found on amazon. One of the few which are working with windows default drivers not using unnecessary "configuration software".

Upon researching BT5.0 dongles (my current one is 4.0) I found this: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B083TXFYWC/ despite the price, it should be installed as a USB sound card, you seem to connect headphones independently, from windows to this dongle and one user already said he uses it aside of another USB dongle for other non-audio BT devices and hasn't spoken about bandwidth overlaying problems yet.

I'll give it a go when DHL (Germany) gets the brand new pickup station nearby into the system.

Current dongle is https://smile.amazon.de/gp/product/B00D757YZ4 not on the US Amazon.

Just wanted you to know:

that second audio-only Bluetooth Adapter works pretty nice. It caps away software things like the Windows App which came with the headphones and it's automatic output source switching - and I haven't experienced any lags while typing and being connected to my phone for call signaling.

Seemed that this worked, but it also seemed that I got the last one Amazon had currently. -> It's from: https://1mii.com/#
