what are you willing to spend on these parts?

I'd suggest a Ryzen 5 3600 , 16 gb of ram 8x2 3600 mhz , b450 tomahawk max should cost you around 400$ max (prices could be higher cause of Covid).

A budget for the whole system would be nice

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

AMD is kind of the no-brainer at this point. it is cheaper, same single threaded performance, more cores, more features, unlocked OC and SMT on nearly all models. Until Intel comes out with a suitable response, you are kind of throwing your money down the drain going with an Intel system.

Is there some special use case you have? Are nonstop using H264 CPU encoding or something?

Well, you really shouldn't - Intel's current products are inferior. For your budget, a Ryzen 7 3700X, Asus X570 TuF board and 16GB DDR4 is ideal

That's a shame because AMD gives you core i9 levels of performance for less

But if you must have Intel

This basically - the 3700X is both faster AND cheaper than a 9700K. Not to mention the 3700X runs cooler, uses less power, has better security in place and better user features

Comes with its own very flashy CPU cooler as well

And unlike the 9700K, the 3700X runs cool and doesn't need custom coolers since the stock Wraith Prism is great

No point. The 3900X is overkill and the 9900K is a space heater which can barely outperform a 3700X. Get the 3700X and save money

Why you need intel? At your budget ryzen 7 3700x is much better than intel can provide.

ryzen comes with decent stock cooler too.

I don't know what parts you currently have so I don't know what's compatible or recommended.

Could you share a pcpartpicker list of what you're going to use?

Overkill, not necessarily, but definitely overpriced. You could get the Asus prime X570-P for a pretty decent price and it overclocks even a 12 core comfortably. You get more features for your dollar and it's guaranteed compatible with third gen ryzen. A more premium motherboard would be the X570 TUf

Honestly, the experience for a gaming PC is identical on all but the worst SSDs possible. The cheapest M.2 SSD you can find would work nicely. I don't recall a mention for a need of hign bandwidth storage, but if you're editing large images and videos, you could take advantage of a faster drive.

It's a solid setup. However, idk what "bullguard" is, if it's antivirus you should just cut it from the budget. You could use free antivirus like Avast and Malwarebytes, or just browse carefully.

its antivirus but its something they give for free when you spend over 1k danish kroner so its for free. would this setup work for around 5 yeras`? like my old rig did?
