Possible, but only 8gb of it will run at dual channel bandwidth

I don't see a problem with doing this, especially on an intel platform. I remember I used to run 4 different sticks on RAM on my previous system.

 

If you're on Ryzen, especially Zen 1, I would tread carefully. I still have PTSD from trying to get RAM to work properly back when Zen launched.

Unlikely to crash, it's just a speed reduction that wont affect say, office work
