Color depth stuck at 6 bit with no option for 8 bit

My laptop is a HP Pavillion 15 ec0006nu

It has an ips panel so it should support 8 bit color depth, however I've looked at all the options in the amd iGPU software, eGPU Nvidia control panel and there is No option for display color depth. I've looked in the settings of windows too and again no option for color depth. All my drivers are up to date. Anyone got any ideas?
