Leaving it in rest-mode is fine if you use it every day like that. That's what it's made for :D
I'd turn it off for longer periods and overnight.

Thank you so much for your reply.

Also  do you know if the fan or the internals of the device wear out quicker this way?

The fan doesn't usually run when it is in rest-mode (download might cause it to run). Wear on the system is very small. Modern systems are designed to operate like this.

Most likely your PS4 will die because of other reasons. Or becomes obsolete when you eventually get a new console. No need to worry.

Ok so the conclusion here is that its better to use rest mode than turning it on and off ?

If using it few times a day, as you said. Yes. I'd go with rest mode.

Turn of for the night and longer periods. That's what I think, and the way I use my PS4 pro.

I'm not worried at all using rest mode. It's there for a reason.

Lustig, thank you so much for your time and insight !

By the way I have a ps4 slim(if it means something for the longevity and component durability of the console or rest mode)

You're welcome.

All PS4's function in the same way, so it applies to all models.
