Hello,

Today I decided to repaste my lenovo yoga 530 14 arr (AMD variant), since the cpu was getting a little hot.  I was a little secptical about opening the laptop since last time I did it did not turn on at all. And boy oh boy I was right this time again.

After repasting the cpu and closing the laptop back-up again I got the lovely message ''No boot device found'' I did not touch the SSD at all. After I tried to boot with Hirenboot cd and I also got the message no network cards found and the touchpad wasn't working either. Remember I ONLY took off the cooler and took the appropriate safety precautions before going to work. The bios does not see the SSD

Is this some kind of bios protection to prevent me from opening the laptop? I seriously doubt I will ever buy lenovo again if this keeps happening.

Help is appreciated.

Kinds regards,

Wolly

yes I did. I did not find anything. I doubt it's because I did something wrong (not saying it's impossible). Since this is the second time the laptop died from opening it and I already brought it to repair once. This is also the only computer I worked on that gave me problems. Which makes me think it's some kind of bios protection or something

Since the SSD, network cards, CD drive, and touch pad weren't working, it kinda sounds like a PCIE lane issue. Is your CPU socketed? If it is, you might try re-seating it.

No. I am talking about my second laptop which has an Ryzen 3 2200u

Hmmm... That's really weird and frustrating. I really have no other ideas, but I did find something about people with Lenovo Flex 14's having problems with the flex cable for their HDD's being slightly displaced from the motherboard. If you have an external dock, you could try putting the SSD in there and see if the laptop sees it.

Replaced the laptop. Done with Lenovo and their Sxxx customer support. I should be able to maintenance my own devices without them breaking down every time I open them
