Adapting Displayport to DVI for 144hz?

Okay so basically I have a 2060, Which is great, it gets the job done for everything I need, the problem is that it doesnt support a DVI port which is what my second monitor used to run on at 144hz. I can use the hdmi port on the monitor and the graphics card, but im locked at 60hz because only the monitors DVI port supports 144. My question is, if i get a displayport to DVI adapter / Cable, will it support 144hz?

I suggest you get a displayport at this point.

It supports 144hz and its way better than dvi in my opinion.

If it’s a secondary display why does it matter?

I use star tech dp2dvi usb powered adapters. Worked for 120 but I ever tried 144 as I never owned a monitor that supported 144hz via dpi.
