trouble shooting gpu I’m don’t know what to do?

So last week I installed nvidia 445.75 gpu driver and everything just went downhill every startup there is a black screen and sometimes I have to hard reset my pc. I used ddu and installed their hot fix no luck. I have a bunch of hardware error 141’s after every startup and I switched out my 1070 with a 1060 and the problems stopped. Rn I’m using the 1060 with the 445.78 drivers and I want to know if a faulty gpu was  causing corrupted drivers or is it something else thx.

 

system specs, i7 9700k oc 4.9 ghz

gtx 1070 now 1060

256gb ssd

2tb 7200 hdd 

2tb NAS drive 

16gb 2666 ddr4 ram

800 watt power supply

you try rolling back to before 445.75?

DDU the system and do a clean reinstall of either the 445.75 driver or rollback to a previous stable version

did you yoink the 1060 out of another rig? if so can you try putting the 1070 in another rig to see if the problems come with it?

It was in a rig I was putting together it had no cpu or hdd so rn it’s my charging area. I would put it in my dads rig but he doesn’t want me to.

Run windows in safe mode to ensure no software is crapping out your graphics card driver

Did you try doing a clean install of Windows after ddu?

That will be my last resort if it starts happening with the 1060
