linux ddu alternative?

On 16.04 ubuntu and i see ddu is windows only.

main rig:

CPU: 8086k @ 4.00ghz-4.3 boost

PSU: 750 watt psu gold (Corsair rm750)

gpu:axle p106-100 6gbz msi p104-100 @ 1887+150mhz oc gpu clock, 10,012 memory clock*2(sli?) on prime w coffee lake igpu

Mobo: Z390 taichi ultimate

Ram: 2x8gb corsair vengence lpx @3000mhz speed

case: focus G black

OS: ubuntu 16.04.6, and umix 20.04

Cooler: mugen 5 rev b,

Storage: 860 evo 1tb/ 120 gb corsair force nvme 500

Yeah.  Ddu is a thing to make windows act more like Linux.  You shouldn’t have the kinds of problems ddu fixes with linux

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

well, my second p106 even with a reinstall of os and putting it in primary pcie slot makes the os give an error after splash i think means driver is not signed on swapping to nvdia, so i think a ddu is needed for that card. it did it on multiple boots. if i reinstall again i can get into os with the good card in the primary slot i am pretty sure, and ddu the bad one.

 

the weird part is, the os booted with the bad one in primary with opensource driver in, but with the nvidia driver the bad one does the error, so i think something is wrong, or a ddu may fix 

 

 

@Bombastinator do you have a ddu-like program suggestion?

Ddu is an uninstaller,  with Linux uninstall is done by removing apps along with dependencies.  What do you feel ddu would remove?

the driver (maybe the bad windows driver) attached to the bad card itself i think ddu will remove. got the card used. i assume dsm means driver signing module, so if its unsignable for linux to sign windows. so removing it should fix my issue.

 

furthur, when the good card was in primary, and bad in second, with command pcils, it showed "access denied" on the bad card's capability properties. i could be wrong entirely tho. the error in the picture covers my screen with bad one in primary.IMG_20200331_003403.thumb.jpg.adacb9d5cfd686ea6fc87b439a73691b.jpg

So your problem is you’re trying to run a windows driver on Linux.  Yeeeaaahhhh.  That might be N issue alright.  That particular horror didn’t even exist when last I dealt with Linux.  Well, people were messing with it but it was too ugly to actually use.  What Linux driverless card are you attempting this magic trick with?

No thats not what im saying at all...

 

 

im saying i reinstalled my linux os with the bad card in primary pcie. i baught the bad card used. I swapped from xorg/opensource to nvidia driver that came with my linux distro. 

 

but my theory is, because i baught the card used, it had a leftover windows driver from the person i baught it from, and the os is trying to use that instead of my linux nvidia driver.

further evidence of this is the fact the good card worked no errors and was also a p106 baught used. only other diffrence is the bad card is passively cooled. nothing else i can think of that could cause this.

No, windows driver is for windows, it stay in windows. I doesn't "attached to the card". You linux GPU driver is probably borked, either remove it via cli and then install opensource driver or reinstall Linux.

i just reinstalled linux. its only the one card other one still works. i guess ill return second card. guess its bad or something.
