"Proper" G-Sync Settings

I've had a G-Sync monitor for over a year now and only recently realized that I need to enable V-sync in the global Nvidia settings to make it work correctly. What about framerate limiting? I see there is a setting to limit FPS globally in the Nvidia settings, is that my best bet instead of another FPS limiter? I know that 141 is generally best for a 144 hz display and not all games allow custom fps settings. Also, will the max frame rate setting apply to regular windows applications if applied globally, or just all games? Are there any other settings I should change? To summarize, I'm using:

 

  • G-Sync: On, Fullscreen only
  • Vertical Sync: On
  • Max Frame Rate: 141 fps

You can set 144hz (141hz) in windows display settings no need in games if your panel supports g-sync. I never have v-sync enabled. In games or NVIDIA control panel settings.

 

However if it working for you then no need to mess with it.
