So I bought my PC a few years back and went with an EVGA 1060 3gb. I am really starting to see the performance drawbacks with all these new games coming out. I'm always stuttering because I never use less than 3gb of my VRAM. I want a good upgrade but dont want to bottleneck my CPU. I have a i5 7600k so that should still have good performance for years to come, but what is the best investment in a graphics card that wont bottleneck the CPU. I was thinking maybe a rx 5700 8gb for a future proof upgrade or maybe just a used rx 580 8gb. I prefer radeon but if a Nvidia would get me more performance for the price I am open to that as well. I have nothing against getting an older card as long as I get more performance and VRAM and as long as it is sort of future proof.

I would appreciate the advice. Thanks!

If you play 1080p and don't have high refresh rate monitor, a RX580 is just okay.

That card still plays medium to high in most games.

A GTX 1660 Super is probably one of the most value for money cards right now.

Is 6gb a good amount of VRAM? I’m just worried it won’t be enough in the near future. I like the price and performance but that’s all I’m worried about.

Yes, as long as you're not running 4k, you should be good.

When the son of the deposed king of Nigeria emails you directly, asking for help, you help! His father ran the freaking country! Ok?

Yeah I might venture into 1440p but I don't have the money for 4k yet.

Do you think the 580 or the 1660 super will be more future proof? I feel like for 1440p the 580 would be better with the extra 2gb of vram. Thats really the only thing holding me back from getting the 1660 super because when I bought my 1060 everyone thought 3gb would be enough. I just dont want to need an upgrade in a couple years for the same reason.
