NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID [SOLVED]

Go to solution Solved by shoutingsteve,

The only way I was able to solve the issue was to install windows 7 with more of the updates installed.  Makes no sense why the same software wouldn't work on the same hardware...

I'm at my wit's end with this!  I recently had a terrible decrease in speed on my SSD and after calling tech support, I ended up totally wiping it (command prompt, CLEAN command) and reinstalling windows 7 64.  But now, tons of websites that I use without any previous problems are blocked by opera, IE, and chrome.  All are saying "NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID".  Sometimes it's as easy as telling the browser I accept the risk and it'll let me through; and other times it will completely block me out and a blank web page will load after accepting the risk.  I was able to get into the chase bank website, (login screen was accessible after accepting the risk, but I had to download the certificates and install them (thank God IE allows you to install from within the browser and the other browsers will pick up on the change) to get to the account over balances.

This is infuriating and unusable, and I think it has to do with the fact that I wiped the drive.  Anyone have any incite to how I can get this solved.

I already reinstalled the operating system (twice)  just to make sure it wasn't some fluke, and tried both my install media along with a buddy's media to make sure It wasn't some botched installer.

It must be true, I read it on the internet...

this looks more like something is wrong with your internet. if the browser cannot verify the authenticity of the website certificates, that means something is throwing errors or your internet is being tampered with. what is your ISP? are you using the router that came with your isp? is anyone else in your netowrk having these issues?

Is your time in settings set to automatic? I had the same problem when I had to change the date manually for something and forgot to change it back to automatic. The browser's would think the year was 2015 or whatever time was set to in settings, so it would say the cert is invalid.
