okay so today i was using my newly built pc for some light work. mainly productivity software, nothing heavy. when suddenly i heard a loud pop come from it and a flash om the back of it. everything turned off. the fuse for my room had popped. so i took out my power supply and something on the inside rattled a bit. something that looks like a piece of a voltage regulator falls out. so i've already sent an RMA request for the power supply, but now i'm super afraid the rest of my pc may be broken as well. it is possible that the rest of my pc is okay since seasonic boasts about their great protection circuitry. visually everything looks fine. but i am still super scared of doing anything. does anybody have any advice for me on how to proceed? i don't want to cause further damage, but at the same time i want to know if the rest still works. i don't have the money for a test bench, nor do i know anybody who has one. should i just order a new PSU and try it out? what should i do?

Specs if they help:

seasonic focus gold 750 watt power supply

16gb gskill trident z neo ram

asrock x570 taichi motherboard

nzxt h700i case

amd ryzen 7 3700x CPU

evga rtx2080 blower GPU

amd wraith prism rgb cpu cooler

samsung 970 evo m.2 nvme ssd 500gb

seagate 3.5" baracuda HDD 4tb

If it is a newer model seasonic it should have fail safes to where if it were to fry it shouldn't affect the other components, however there are instances where one can be unlucky and it could still damage other components. If you did not have it plugged into a surge protector that can also be a big deal, as if it were it could have protected the whole PC including PSU from damage. There isn't much you can do until you get a new PSU to test the system. RMA processes are pretty much on hold with what's going on right now, so if you want to get the computer up and running soon, you'll have to order a new unit now. If you don't already have one I would also recommend you pick up a surge protector. I also would not skimp out and get a cheap unit as you may have to use it for awhile before you get the RMA'd unit back.

Thanks for the reply!

hmm okay. so would you reccomend getting a temporary PSU as a spare? or like permanently? this is the first time i have dealt with a problem like this. would i get my money back for my original PSU or would it be repaired/replaced?is there anything you'd reccomend to do with the system itself? like remove unnecesary components to protect them from potential further damage?

Everything you have is essential, you don't have an iGPU so you can't start it without the GPU installed, so no. If you're ok with waiting up to a month or two(due to the pandemic and most RMA departments being closed) to get the repaired or replaced unit back you can, but if it were me I'd just get a new quality unit now and keep it. Send the other one in for RMA and when you receive the replacement sell that.
