You definitely don't need that PSU. I would recommend going with something in line with this product instead.The rest of the build isn't too shabby. Might want to change up a few things to save a dollar or two, but all in all it's decent.

 

Now, medium settings might be pushing that APU a little - although I'm not entirely sure.

 

Edit: @Evostatic343 - I know this isn't exactly pretty or insane, but this falls pretty close to his budget: $550 CAD Build

I'm pretty sure that OP's friend needs more than just the basics. It looks like he needs an entire build minus the peripherals. Now, if I'm mistaken and he has parts to use already, this is definitely a fairly solid build idea. I wouldn't try to find more of a balance between the parts, however - you have a lot of the cost wrapped up in the GPU and PSU that don't need to be.
