"Wave" Mic input/output

Good evening all, 

I have a (now disused) ASUS Xonar DGX sound card that has a rather unique function on it that comes in handy on occasion and that is called the "wave" microphone. Essentially, on the list of sound input devices on my PC there is one called "wave" that, that functions as a kind of relay that could record the sound output. I could essentially play a song on spotify, and use Audacity to record the song without an external microphone.

 

Is there any type of software that would replicate this?
