FirewallModule.exe high memory usage

Go to solution Solved by Kilrah,

Search for the .exe name on Google and you'll find a reddit thread discussing it. Seems a complete wipe/reinstall of the PC is recommended by some.

Basically what the title says. I noticed in task manager that even at startup my memory usage is pretty high, somewhere in the 70% range even when nothing is running except startup programs. I can leave it for 2 hours and it stays the same. It made no sense as to why i was using up to 7GB out of the 8GB of memory i have in my PC. Resource monitor tells me there is a program or service called "FirewallModule.exe" that is using most of my memory, 2.405.564KB at the moment. Dont know how to fix this, dont really want to suspend or end the process as it sound like its actually important.

Ive attached screenshots of both Task Manager and Resource Monitor. I have no idea how to fix this and im too scared to experiment because im scared i could mess something up.

Hmm the only reference to this I can find is pretty nasty malware packed with a pirated copy of a very recently released game.

Honestly thank you so much! I was being an idiot and just torrented the game the second i could wherever i found it because i was way too excited to play it. Was also an idiot for not just straight up typing the name of the .exe into google, guess i was panicking a bit too much. Thank you for giving me the hint that somehow didnt pop into my head. Did everything the reddit thread suggested and now my ram usage is back to normal. Again, thank you for your help!
