For free i can only think of Blender. I don't know if there are any other free ones, or dedicated ones.

Yeah man, I use SketchUp, and then the plug-in "Indigo Render". There is a learning curve though, but it only took me like a week to understand most things about it.

 

Unfortunately there aren't that many tutorials on how to use it, but just watch what you can find on the 'tube anyways!

Correct, but setting up the materials to be exported before they go to render, and creating lighting for the Indigo program is what is tricky.
